Sure, Obama's election is a huge accomplishment for the black community. I'm not going to even try to deny that. About 50 years ago they were unable to ride in anywhere but the back of bus. Now one's a president. However, Obama's election has opened a dark door for American politics. The people, essentially, are voting for a celebrity, not a politician. It's sad, really. Sure, maybe some voted for him because they believed in what he was saying and put complete trust in his "amazing" economic plan (I personally prefer Ron Paul's economics, or the Green Party's, but that's just me), but as a whole, America voted him in because he is a young black man.
You can deny it all you want. But the American public put all this trust into him because they thought he would be different. Why would he be different? Because he is a young(ish) black(ish) man as opposed to some old rich white guy (which is the collective evil amongst working people). In essence, he didn't fit into a cliche so the American public trusts him. That's the very thing that the Democrats wanted. Good strategy on their part, I suppose.
And the fact that all these people are relying their hopes and dreams on this man is sad, to say the least. Black or white, young or old, politicians in general are all the same. As far as I see it, Obama's no different. Politics are greasy and corrupt. Maybe in the long run Obama will be different, but as of now I see another Clinton administration.
